CARDINAL “norbertus”
KARDINAL “norbertus”
Toward the end of the 17th century, the Aulendorf Oberschwaben brewery continued a tradition that had developed in the convents and abbeys of Germany since 750, where a strong Lenten beer was brewed, useful for keeping monks in shape during their fast. Thus began the story of Norbertus, a story tied to Norbert of Xanten, Archbishop of Magdeburg, founder of the Premonstratensian order of monks, and patron of the Aulendorf brewery. Norbertus beers, in keeping with Bavarian traditions, are brewed in accordance with the Bavarian Purity Law of 1516, using only water, malt, and hops. This line features six specialties that satisfy every need of those seeking an original and quality beer experience: Edelstark, Festbier, Kardinal, Kellerbier, Weiss Bock, and Weiss Spezial. Norbertus Kardinal is a bottom-fermented double malt red ale. It's a full-bodied beer with a smooth, slightly malty flavor, perfect for lovers of authentic flavors and true connoisseurs. On the nose, it has a malty, spicy aroma of hay and very ripe fruit. On the palate, it is sweet, full-bodied, and well-balanced, with notes of morello cherry and plum. Excellent with cured meats, omelettes, meat with barbecue sauce, grilled mackerel and tuna, and dry pastries.
