Drumshanbo Gin is made with oriental and native Irish botanicals. A total of twelve carefully selected ingredients are used to prepare this gin. In addition to old favorites like Alpine juniper, angelica root, and cardamom, we find exotic botanicals like Chinese lemon and gunpowder (a Chinese green tea that has nothing to do with gunpowder, but has a flavor strongly reminiscent of peppermint). Most of the botanicals are distilled directly in the pot still, while the Chinese lemon, grapefruit, kaffir lime, and gunpowder are placed in the infusion basket, located between the still and the condenser. This allows the gin, in its ethereal passage through the distillation system, to absorb the aromas of the four exotic botanicals.
